St. Augustine grass is one of the most popular lawn grasses in Texas thanks to its tolerance of heat and humidity.  Its dark green broad blades form a dense turf that establishes quickly and easily.  Additionally, it is shade-tolerant and grows well in sand or clay.  It has a medium wear and injury recovery.  St. Augustine is a warm-season lawn grass that is popular for cultivation in tropical and subtropical regions. It is a medium- to high-maintenance grass that forms a thick, carpetlike sod, crowding out most weeds and other grasses

Tifway 419, or Tiff Bermuda is deep green in color and medium to fine in texture. It has excellent weed and disease resistance and is a superior turf for fairways, tees, athletic fields and home lawns. Its toughness, beauty and even growth has made it a popular sports turf for decades. It recovers quickly from injury and traffic and does well during drought conditions.  It can easily withstand 100-degree-plus temperatures, which make it a great choice for Texas lawns. Tiff Bermuda greens up faster in the spring and retains its color longer in the fall.
